I installed a wubi version of Hardy on one of my work computers. I edited the smb.conf file and added the our Windows group name and was able to access most of the computers and printers on the network. I can not however access the file server. We are running Windows 2003 with Active Directory. Normally, when I connect to a share listed Places->Network. I am asked to provide a user name and password and then I am connected. When I try to access the file server, I don't receive any message--Nothing happens. There is no error message or no error log entry I tired loading krb5-admin-server thinking that would solve the problem but it didn't. I edited smb.conf and assigned netbios name = jayLinux I added this name to Active Directory list of computers Didn't work I searched google for help on ubuntu and active directory and all the hits that I get explain how to set up and active directory server. Could someone explain to me or point me to an article for setting up Ubuntu so that I can access my work file server.
