This almost identical condition happened to me with Verizon and Speakeasy both when I lived in Somerville and in Newton. During bad weather my phone became unbearable. And yes, I finally had to bite the bullet and go with Verizon. It is good so far, but I know that I am going to regret the move--sort of like buying cheap goods at Walmart. I also have suspicions about controling traffic.
