Isn't DBAN based on Linux? Can you see the drive from any bootable Linux distribution? If so, just dd /dev/random to the drive a couple of times and you're good. If the electronics are dead, then a degausser may be your only option, short of buying an identical drive (or getting Seagate to cross-ship the replacement) and swapping the circuit board yourself.
