Anil, The short answer is it is possible, according to http://www.sun.drydog.com/faq/9.html#s9.5 (9.5) Can I install Linux and Solaris on the same drive? "Yes. If you use Solaris 10 or greater, it's no problem--as they use different partition IDs (0x82 for Linux and 0xBF for Solaris). Unfortunately, Solaris 9 and earlier and Linux swap partitions use the same ID, 0x82, so be careful." It goes on to talk about Grub setup. Also see http://www.sun.drydog.com/faq/9.html#s9.24 for mount support for ext3 under Solaris as well as zfs support (read-only) for Linux. As of a couple of years ago, this stuff was very painful, so it was easier to use a seperate drive for Solaris, and use a seperate servers & nfs mounting if you wanted to share native file systems. Basically I gave up, but it may be better now. Best to use Solaris 10 or Opensolaris. Randy.
