I noticed on my laptop (Ubuntu 8.04) that I have 6 kernels and the relevant menu items in GRUB. I also found that the default kernel setting in menu.lst was pointing at the 2.6.24-16 kernel rather than the 2.6.24-19 kernel. While I can manually remove the older kernels (2.6.20 and 2.6.22) and edit menu.lst with vim, I was wondering (mainly for inexperienced users): Is there a GUI bootloader utility that can be used to easily edit the menu.lst and remove old kernels along with associated things like system.map and initrd. I don't particularly like telling installfest attendees to edit their menu.lst. Is there a setting that can limit the number of installed kernels. I think that most people would want only the current kernel, and the previous kernel. Again, my question is not how to, as I already know that, but my question is really for relatively new Linux users who may not like to use the command line. -- -- Jerry Feldman <[hidden email]> Boston Linux and Unix PGP key id: 537C5846 PGP Key fingerprint: 3D1B 8377 A3C0 A5F2 ECBB CA3B 4607 4319 537C 5846 _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.blu.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss
