Rather than getting to the bottom of it the old fashioned way I did that modern lazy thing: I asked Google. The answer, which I didn't bother to understand because I am lazy and it just worked, was to edit /etc/ppp/options and comment out "lcp-echo-interval 30". That was several Ubuntu revisions back and I have had to do it again with each rev., and each time it has worked. Maybe this has wider applicability? -kb, the Kent who maintains an "adminlog.txt" file off all the system tweaks he does so he can reproduce his customizations, and find tidbits like this. -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean. _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.blu.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss
