Ugh - the name of the beast. If you've got countless hours to waste and don't
need something 100% reliable, go for IPMI :)

Otherwise, get an opengear and hook up all your machines via serial. That
works reliably, and does not have all the "implementations from hell, spec
from hell" problems that ipmi has. Sadly, opengear devices are a bit pricey
