Happy Thanksgiving Everyone, An Elmer is a ham radio term for an experienced person who helps a novice. I am very experienced in computers but I am a generalist and new to Linux. I teach at Charlestown High School and am trying to set up an integrated network for my Technology/Engineering Program mixing WinTel, Mac and Linux machines using an Ubuntu server v8.10. I am connected to a network with a Windows 2000 server supplying DHCP. I have been running into unknown territory with file and print sharing, with domain and nondomain machines and with IP issues. I do not want to burden the whole list with the issues but if one or two of the members are willing to provide me some advice I would be very grateful. If you are a student and want academic credit in the education field I think I can arrange that. Thank you in advance for your help, Al Bird b.t.w. I am a Physicist/Mathematician by training and started working with computers in 1965, Al ______________________________________________________________________________ To spot the expert, look for the person who predicts the job will take the longest, and cost the most
