They do provide for non network email connections. They are not on an alternate port nor are they encrypted connections, but neither is their current service. So I had them switch it on. It works, the problem I find is that I have to swithch back to the network config when I am on network. I'm sure there is a way to make it transparent for me but I have not figured it out yet.
