Let me answer some of these questions as a residential (not business class) FIOS user... About two months later, the router box died for some reason. While debugging that, I asked they switch over to using the Ethernet port on the ONT which they did fairly quickly. As it turned out, the problem was somewhere outside the ONT so switching to the Ethernet port didn't work. Once the service came back a few hours later, things have been working fine. -Mark
