Advice on new system for Linux

Hi Jay,

If you have a 890GX chipset, it already has an integrated ATI Radeon
HD 4290 graphics. I am not sure how well the OSS Linux driver supports
this graphics engine, but the proprietary driver should support it
well (I haven't seen Linux on this hardware first hand, so I'm just
going by what I hear). You can try it and if the performance/stability
is not to your expectations, you could easily add a discrete PCIe
graphics card at a later date.

BTW, the current crop of ATI integrated graphics is more than adequate
for "normal" usage -- i.e. anything other than heavy gaming or compute
offload type scenarios.

Full disclosure: I work for AMD, but these are my own views and not my
employer's.
