I am considering the possibility of installing an iMap server at home, most likely Dovecot. Actually I've been procrastinating on this for a while. Initially, I will probably set up my wife's email since she is using her laptop more often than her desktop. Both are running Windows. With iMAP she should be able to run an email client. What I would like to do initially is to just set up an inbox, and possibly get email from a gmail or yahoo client.=20 First question, would maildir or mbox be the better mailbox format. The second question, rather than physically taking the existing directories is it possible for an email client to create directory hierarchies? This way I could simply create an empty inbox, and I could move her older data over with Eudora. Note that her Eudora client uses mbox. Since she has few filters, I could easily write some filter scripts for her.=20 WRT mail formats. My preference would be maildir since there is never an issue with having to compact a mailbox in contrast to mbox. --=20 Jerry Feldman <gaf-mNDKBlG2WHs at public.gmane.org> Boston Linux and Unix PGP key id: 537C5846 PGP Key fingerprint: 3D1B 8377 A3C0 A5F2 ECBB CA3B 4607 4319 537C 5846
