A year or two old macbook is all I want. This is an attempt to get my sister and her family to use something other than Windows. As long as it runs the latest version of OS/X its ok. > A windows box is easier to deal with and de-windowzify than a > macthing, but if you want one my friend has one who may be interested. > I've tried Linux with them in the past and it was really painful. My thinking is that a Mac is a good transitional platform. It has many of the strengths of Linux, but has that "cool" factor that some people need. Besides, user's seem to be afraid of brands and products that are not constantly and aggressively marketed at them. So, using a Mac may have enough "street cred" to get them to think a little differently about their computer. Once they "switch" to a new platform, they may be more willing to accept learning new ways of doing things, once that happens, they may come to see Windows on their desktop as the problem that it is. Then, I'll try Ubuntu. Then, I won't have any more tech support calls. > On Tue, Jun 29, 2010 at 12:10, Mark Woodward<markw-FJ05HQ0HCKaWd6l5hS35sQ at public.gmane.org> wrote: > >> Anyone have an MacBook that's a year or so old that they want to get rid >> of?
