Emacs Lisp question

Seriously, I know exactly how it works.  In excruciating detail.  I used to do some crazy stuff with Emacs-Lisp.  I even wrote a POP3 library for it (yes, that's me).  It's just ugly, is all.  That's why I twitch.  If it's a one-off then sure, but if you're saving it using it frequently then it isn't a one-off by definition.
