running ubuntu 10.10 on acer aspire one d255e, i upgraded on line to 11.04. rebooted and when i went to login as moylan, it returned me to the login screen -- without comment. hmmmm. there were no other users defined, but fortunately i had previously set a password for root, so i tried logging in as root and that worked fine. su'ing into moylan, everything worked ok. as root i did an adduser mem (wife) and rebooted. again trying moylan, i was returned to the loging screen. trying mem, it went off into never never land. rebooted and went back in as root, all ok. tiring of this, i downloaded 11.04, burned a disk, and started a reinstall. when i got to the repartitioning screen, i started to recreate my previous partitions. i was able to set up / and /home, but when i tried to define /wrk0, i was only given the options on the pull-down screen (/, /home, etc) and was totally unable to enter any text into the box. %$#!@*^?. what next? tia, ole dan j. daniel moylan 84 harvard ave brookline, ma 02446-6202 617-232-2360 (tel) 810-454-1823 (fax) jdm-LPA1KyJyIuz1P9xLtpHBDw at public.gmane.org www.moylan.us [death to html bloat!]
