It really needs to utilize inotify / FSEvents / kqueue / or Directory Change Notifications, or whatever it's called in the OS of your choice... Also, hopefully they'll add support for https soon. Cuz an awful lot of situations (corporate environments) don't permit ssh access, but you can traverse a https proxy or they simply permit https traffic.
