Perhaps it was as simple as this: http://www.scsita.org/serial-storage-wire/images/it24fig1.jpg I had the belief, by looking at it, that it was approx the same size & number of pins as the normal sata connection, but did not look like it was physically compatible with a sata connection. I guess I'll have to verify.
