The laboratories of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's Pediatric Oncology Department are conducting field-leading research into the development of innovative therapeutic treatments for the prevention and cure of cancer. In your role as Systems Administrator for the Department, you will: - Maintain and administer data storage and backup, web, and database servers, including Samba, LDAP, Apache, MySQL and floating license key servers. - Maintain and administer a High Performance Computing Cluster. - Develop, deploy, and maintain applications to support software deployment, issue tracking, purchasing, software license checkout, scheduling for shared laboratory equipment, cluster management, and user account administration. Applications developed will be published/licensed under the GNU GPL and made available to other laboratories throughout the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. - Maintain and administer PC and Mac research workstations throughout the Pediatric Oncology Department. - Install and upgrade server and workstation computers. - Deploy and upgrade software. - Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and computer hardware repair services to researchers. - Investigate technical specifications and compatibility, compile price comparisons, test potential solutions, and provide purchase recommendations for IT equipment. Position Requirements: - BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering - Extensive C/C++ programming experience - 2 or more years experience in server, network, and workstation administration - Extensive experience installing, supporting, and repairing Linux, Apple Macintosh, and Microsoft Windows PC systems - Extensive experience using and supporting standard productivity applications Position Details - This is a permanent, salaried position - Salary is commensurate with qualifications (negotiable, approximately $65,000-$70,000 annually) - Medical, dental, and other benefits are available - Located at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in the Longwood Medical Area in Boston - Employee must be on-site during regular business hours (telecommuting is not possible) Additional Qualifications: - Must be proactive in identifying problems, efficient in implementing solutions, be able to articulate issues and suggestions with others clearly in both technical and non-technical language, and must have an excellent work ethic - An affinity for Free Software Development is preferred To apply, please email resume and contact information to dfcipedoncit at gmail.com _______________________________________________ Position-available mailing list Position-available at blu.org http://lists.blu.org/mailman/listinfo/position-available
