I have a DLINK DNS-321 NAS box. I have been following the N40L discussion
because I wanted to get more space and RAID and replace the DLINK because
is is pretty slow and it only offers RAID as stripe or mirror.

Well, I paid the price this AM. One drive in my striped set died. Crap!

Never buy Hitachi disks.
