I have had no luck with the NVIDIA drivers on my Dell Precision, and find the Nouveau driver more stable under Fedora 16 than I did with other distros. That said, I too don't have the same scenario as you, but I use Evolution for better Exchange support. I occasionally have display lockups when I suspend/resume but usually if I close the lid again, and open after a pause, the driver gets kicked into motion. I have noticed some intermittent issues, but chalked these up to the all-too-frequent kernel updates that have been coming down. And, look, another one! /Jay Burrill > Date: Sun, 15 Apr 2012 10:46:35 -0400 > From: tkoker at gmail.com > To: gaf at blu.org > CC: discuss at blu.org > Subject: Re: [Discuss] Unexplained GUI lockups > > Hi, > > I have a similar problem, but different setup: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS on Gnome > 2 (not using nVidia drivers, either, though). > I have had the lockup in two cases, running Firefox 11 (64 bit), and, > running IE 8 in a Win XP session of Virtual Box. > Mouse works fine, but the keyboard won't even toggle the Caps or Num > Lock (lights) but I can use ssh, and do, to gracefully shutdown VMs and > reboot the main (PITA). > > Tony Koker > > > On Sun, Apr 15, 2012 at 10:26 AM, Jerry Feldman <gaf at blu.org> wrote: > > > Recently I've been experiencing a lockup of the GUI (Gnome 3), Fedora > > 16.
