When: April 18, 2012 7PM (6:30PM for Q&A) Topic: Linux Soup XII.2: LVM Fundamentals and CGroups Moderators: Christoph Doerbeck, Gordon Keegan Location: MIT Building E51, Room 335 Summary Christoph discusses LVM volume management, and Gordon discusses CGroups for resource management Abstract Topics: LVM fundamentals + bonus coverage on CGroups Part1: Overview of Logical Volume Management. Learn how to manage your storage and protect your data with LVM2. Add disks, create volume groups & logical volumes. Then protect your data by leveraging the native RAID capabilities of the modern LVM2. Part2: And for the second part of this presentation, learn about the new resource management features of Linux called CGroups. Restrict processes to limited resources by establishing CGroup policies. The plan is to utilize RHEV-M (demonstrated in March 2012 for BLU) and provide lab sessions which attendees can connect to via VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure).
