He mentioned Amazon in the original message. One downside of Amazon is that they don't support high definition streaming to PCs; only to the Kindle Fire and to supported media streaming boxes. And annoyingly, they don't support streaming to non-Kindle Android devices at all, though they offer it to the iPad even though they had to devote development resources to that. The selection is limited compared to Netflix, though better than Comcast Streampix. (I currently have that but only because it's part of the internet tier we wanted; I wouldn't pay $5 extra for the poor selection of movies they offer.) On the other hand, you also get the upgraded Amazon shipping benefit, which has significant value if you're a regular buyer of physical goods from Amazon. I'll admit that the whole Netflix pricing thing left me with bad feelings about them. Their original pricing model recognized that somebody with both streaming and DVD delivery probably didn't get twice as much benefit from Netflix as somebody who had only one or the other. And had I stayed with them at all the change would have driven me to exactly the choice they didn't want: to keep DVD delivery and drop streaming.
