I don't have any experience building a document archive or anything wiki-like in WordPress, but I can say that in 2012 I went from WordPress novice to expert and programmed an emergency replacement for my company's ~2000 page internal web portal in about a month. (It took some unfortunate souls another month or two to port the data over from the impenetrable and dying waste of bits I was replacing.) WordPress is quite versatile.
