Sr. Systems Engineer/DevOps Engineer Are you a DevOps or system engineer, a person who loves to be both a developer and a sys admin? Do you embrace the DevOps movement? If so, please read on! We are looking for an operations person or developer focused on delivering value and not focused solely on preserving root access control. We want someone with great communication skills and an interest to explore beyond their infrastructure and borrow what is good from all organizational functions. We'd like a person that sees the future of infrastructure as a repeatable testable process, not a manual and routine run book. Required Skills: * 5-7 years of experience doing systems automation in LINUX/UNIX environment * Managing public cloud based (Amazon EC2 and/or Rackspace Cloud a plus) infrastructure * Experience managing NoSQL (key-value store), MySQL databases and Hadoop Map-Reduce clusters * Systems programming and scripting using these languages: python, ruby, bash * Great communicator: able to persuade development and systems group for using certain tools, methodology but not hard-headed at the same time and not argumentative. * Able to mentor other members of the team for Agile methodology and programming skills * Big plus if created/wrote tools in the past that is useful for systems-engineering/DevOps * Experience with infrastructure automation/configuration management tools (familiarity with Chef a plus) Qualifications & Desired Skills: * At least 1 year of current commercial experience as a DevOps engineer working on a high-traffic site (at least 1 million unique visitors per day) * Experience with high-performance, open source web technologies (jetty, nginx, haproxy) * Experience with high-availability technologies like NLB, CDN and caching layers (ETAGS, varnish, memcached, code caching) * Fluency in Java is a major plus * BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent Please send resumes to: Nelly Geifman, ngeifman at paypal.com<mailto:ngeifman at paypal.com>; www.linkedin.com/in/nellygeifman<http://www.linkedin.com/in/nellygeifman> To view our job openings, go to www.ebaycareers.com<http://www.ebaycareers.com/>
