[Discuss] Why are all my hard drives slow on Ubuntu? (new computer)

Hmm, I don't really know what to look for, so I put the whole thing
here (for Ubuntu 12.04 LTS):

  http://www.blazemonger.com/dmesg.txt

I do see the 3ware RAID card is producing:

  3w-sas: scsi0: ERROR: (0x03:0x0101): Invalid command opcode:opcode=0x85

which is explained somewhat here ("everything seems to be working, with the
exception of the error msg"):

  http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=2216.msg16744

I don't have the hardware background to understand most of the dmesg
output however. Any help appreciated!!
