[Discuss] Job Opening: Linux -- Active Directory Integration Project

EditShare (*www.editshare.com**), *a leading provider of networked shared
storage for the television and film industry, is seeking a freelance
developer or consultant who has a deep understanding of how Linux servers
can be integrated into an Active Directory environment.

To qualify for this position, you must be able to work in Boston where our
offices are located. This is a "limited contract" project.

We are looking for somebody who has extensive experience designing and
setting up infrastructures where Windows clients can access Linux server
resources -- network shares, web pages, client/server applications, etc. --
with single sign on simplicity.

While we currently offer some limited Active Directory support in our
products, we now want to allow Windows users to access selected Linux
server resources without having to input any usernames or passwords -- all
while continuing to maintain security so that our servers know with
certainty who the users are. Ideally, the changes that we make to our Linux
authentication system will also be adaptable to work with Open LDAP and
Kerberos.

This is a relatively fast turnaround project within our organization, so
rather than trying to learn about all of this from scratch, we think it's
just better to hire somebody on a temporary basis who knows how to do it,
who has done it before many times and who can get us where we need to be
quickly and efficiently. Part of your job will be transferring your
knowledge to us so that by the time you are finished with this project, we
understand Linux and Active Directory as well as you do.

The right candidate for this job will have the following qualifications:

   - Extensive experience integrating Linux with Active Directory
(especially with Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2012
   - Significant experience integrating Linux with Open LDAP
   - A good understanding of Samba 3.6.x and Samba 4.x

A plus would be:

   - Familiarity with Ubuntu Linux

*If you are interested in this position, please send a cover letter
and resume to work at editshare.com *

About EditShare

EditShare is a leading developer of networked shared storage and tapeless
end-to-end workflow solutions for the television and film industry. Our
products include video capture and playout servers, high-performance
central shared storage, archiving and backup software, database-backed

EditShare was founded in Boston in 2004. The principals all came from
television and film production themselves and started the company with the
idea that serious workflow improvements were needed in the industry. Today,
EditShare has over 3000 customers worldwide. These range from major
broadcasters such as ION Networks in the USA to ITV in the UK, to high-end
production companies such as PS 260, Atlas Media, and Sharp Entertainment
in New York to the Oprah Winfrey Channel and Carson Daly in Los Angeles. We
have installations at over 500 colleges and universities around the world.
We are at cable television stations and corporate video departments large
and small.

The spirit at EditShare is very much that of a high-tech upstart
challenging the traditional players in the industry. We produce 5 product
lines with a relatively modest number of developers. Everybody's opinion is
valued and counts here. There are unlimited opportunities to have your good
ideas incorporated into our products. Our release cycle is measured in
months, not years.
