Using your TV example I can be pretty sure during certain times using
certain channels they won't be overly exposed to adult content.  I
cannot currently do that so easily with a computer.

IMHO do not consider possible "protection" to be half assed.  There is
value to not having the potentially damaging material accessible to
minors.  Due to their age they may not have yet developed the cognitive
skills to make the appropriate choices regardless how much we attempt to
educate them.

Think I'm going to try the suggested browser on a computer the adults
use and instruct the kids to only use that browser when on the adult
Mac.  I'll set the android tablets to use the Opendns filter and see how
that works.

Considering the size of this market I'm surprised there are not more
solutions available.
