[Discuss] SSD drives vs. Mechanical drives

I have seen some competing posts on other forums SSD drives are certainly lighter and faster than mechanical hard drives. The comment on Windows Boston that has no figures to back up his claim is that the SSD drives actually are less power efficient than mechanical hard drives because of their additional reliance on the CPU. And certainly SSD drives are more expensive. It would be interesting to see some pros and cons. -- Jerry Feldman <gaf at blu.org> Boston Linux and Unix PGP key id:3BC1EB90 PGP Key fingerprint: 49E2 C52A FC5A A31F 8D66 C0AF 7CEA 30FC 3BC1 EB90
