Nope. Well - Drives increased speed up to around 1Gbit/sec around 10 years ago, and there they stayed, and there they still are. They're limited by the frequency response of the heads.

It took a surprisingly long time for SSD's to get faster than sustainable 1Gbit/sec, but they've accomplished it now. Nowadays, I expect a typical SSD to actually be limited by the 6Gbit bus.
