One of the beauties of virtualization is that you can use operating systems that may not work with current hardware. I did this 40 years ago with IBM's VM370. We sold out mainframe to another company in San Antonio, and helped them install IBM DOS (mainframe OS - PCs were not yet invented - but there were some decent hobby computers).
