All true if you're running a domain of any importance. And you don't
really want a primary on a low-reliability home network in most cases.
But if you're running a vanity domain it might be good enough.

But it's easier (and usually more reliable) to let somebody else do
it. The services you suggest are good, or if your domain registar
includes DNS with the registration (as mine does) that's another good
option.

Off topic, I'll get in a plug for Hover. Not the cheapest domain
registrar but at $15/year (for .com and .org addresses, other domains
vary) it's cheap enough. They include DNS and you have full control
over all your records (there is a simplified web interface but they
also have an advanced option where you can put in anything), it's been
very reliable for me, and they don't spam you with pitches to buy more
stuff.
