I am looking for ISP recommendations. In Somerville. My crusty old independent DSL provider has changed hands several times over the years. The most recent buyer, Global Capacity (I think it is now) just raised my rate considerably yet my speeds are barely enough for crappy video streaming. Is there something better? Verizon messes with http headers to insert hard-cookies, so I don't want them. Cable companies in general have always seemed clueless to slimey as ISPs in general--and I am always seeing outage reports from Boston-area twitter users. Is there something else? I used to have a hard requirement that I have a static IP, but maybe I can relax that. (Maybe I bounce things through a cheap virtual machine in the cloud.) Reliable, fast, plain vanilla bits. I guess my "plain vanilla" desire is the expensive part... Suggestions? Thanks, -kb, the Kent who wishes Google Fiber would come to town, or our aren't-I-so-terribly-hip Mayor Curtatone would find us some good bits.
