running on an intel nuc pentium moylan ~[263] uname -a Linux arcturus 4.11.6-201.fc25.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue Jun 20 20:21:11 UTC 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux root ~[144] mysql -u root -p Enter password: ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES) i've googled for this problem and found no solutions. i may remember incorrectly, but i don't believe this has been a problem in the past. any suggestions as to how to set the root password and get the mysql prompt? tia, ole dan j. daniel moylan 84 harvard ave brookline, ma 02446-6202 617-777-0207 (cel) jdm at moylan.us www.moylan.us [no html pls]
