kdenlive was pretty intuitive for me; lets you cut clips together,
overlay an audio track, etc without much fuss.

I've tried cinnerella various times over the years, but I think the
audience for that is more professional (read: skilled).  But has a lot
more tools if you want to be doing effects (more than the transition
effects).
