When the init system needs to, for example, wait 60 seconds for the Ethernet interfaces to plumb before configuring and starting network services? Or your kernel needs to allocate a hundred GB of hugepages for your application? Ten times faster storage won't matter much in overall startup times. Or maybe I just misunderstood what you meant by, "see if booting from the external SSD would be faster". -- \m/ (--) \m/
