[Discuss] fetchmail

i have two laptops running fc38.  on the hp laptop fetchmail
runs just fine, but not on the asus laptop.  .fetchmailrc is
the same on both, the fetchmail.log shown is from the asus
laptop.

  set logfile fetchmail.log
  poll mail.moylan.us protocol POP3
        user "moylanus" pass "BHCjdm34!+&" is moylan preconnect "date >> fetchmail.log"
  smtp localhost

any thoughts on how to get fetchmail running on the asus laptop?
