This, and as noted the X11 vs. Wayland consideration. And the fact that this all assumes the pty is associated with an xterm (or whatever) and not something else like a console or SSH session. Also, it wouldn't be the PID of the vi process. It needs to trace up the chain of parent PIDs to get to the xterm. -- \m/ (--) \m/
