I am using a paid version, and am very happy with it. The Swiss know how to 
mind their own business. I was in the unusual position of having the same 
trusted mail admin for almost 40 years, but switched to Proton Mail when he 
retired and my alma mater ditched free e-mail for alumni.

The paid version comes bundled with access to a VPN, so that is a nice bonus.
