Good call. It doesn't look like something I'd trust.

However, I had a project a decade or so ago that used a rendezvous server
to allow two systems on the internet to find each other, punch a hole
through their NAT, and start OpenVPN between two systems.

I think it probably works similarly. They probably don't use OpenVPN, and
just basically use encrypted port forwarding over ssh.
