I keep a tickler, a calendar of items to look at at various future dates. For 2026.07.22, I have some excerpted messages from this list about this date two years ago, when Crowdstrike distributed a defective update. The short version is in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CrowdStrike, "On July 19, 2024, it issued a faulty update to its security software that caused global computer outages that disrupted air travel, banking, broadcasting, and other services, particularly at Delta Air Lines." The long version is in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_CrowdStrike-related_IT_outages. It wone the 2024 Pwnie Award for "most epic fail". In the Discuss messages, people predicted that Crowdstrike would go under because of this, "Their stock will bleed and they will, at a minimum, need to change their name." But Crowdstrike is still in businesses under that name. Its latest reported market cap is $182G. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a Harvard Business School case study on their "crisis management" of the situation. Dale
