That's one of the things I mean by trash. If a container suite requires
multiple VMs then that's trash, and whoever is responsible needs to be
taken out back and have unspeakable things done to them.

I'll give you a counter-example: the Nextcloud AIO suite. It's one
docker command to pull the master container which pulls all of the
dependent containers including Postgress, manages starting and stopping
containers in orderly fashion, and handles upgrades from a simple web
browser UI: click button to start, click button to upgrade, click
button to start. It also handles autostart if the host is rebooted.

In my case I run Nextcloud AIO in its own VM because I want all things
Docker isolated from my host. The whole suite runs inside this single
VM. You shouldn't need to stand up a VM to run containers but I want
that isolation so that's what I do.
