Apropos to Rodney's presentation last night (but presumably unrelated), the
Boston Globe ran a front-page article discussing the U.S. Postal Service's
plans to roll out a digital-signature service, to be formally announced
here in Boston at the DCI Internet Expo coming up next month.
Even if the government only requires a single one of those $750 Alpha
servers mentioned at last night's user group meeting in order to
implement this service, they'll still be able to collect their proposed
22-cent postage rate for each digital signature--name recognition goes
a long way for an organization like the Postal Service!
