You should use vt200 emulation mode.  Check that the terminal type is correct
(viz., type "echo $TERM" - it should report vt200.

VT100 mode should work as well.

In SunOS, the terminal type controlled by the /etc/ttytab file.  Lord knows 
where
it is for Solaris 2 - but I believe that the admintool lets you set it.
