Sir,
My various email software packages all have the very useful
ability of keeping related email messages together as long as
their Subject: lines remain intact. ("intact" being defined
by well-known practice and convention) I therefore hope
you'll permit me to beg you to please, Please, PLEASE stop
allowing your email software to mangle the Subject: lines.
When you give your Subject: lines the Frankenstein treatment
by inserting that very nonstandard Re[2]: stuff, my email
software can no longer keep the related email messages
threaded. Since Re[2]: conveys no useful information beyond
the standard Re: there would be no harm in discontinuing the
practice, and demonstrable benefit to all.
Regards,
