I agree here that some of IBM's mainframes had microcode assist features for
the VM. I also think that there would be some performance degradation. A VM
does not need to emulate the machine instructions. I would actually like to
see some benchmark results. In the case where a person mich vave Windoz and
Linux in a dual boot situation, there could be some advantages. It certainly
is not a panacea.
