SuSE distribution

Just a couple of questions, to see if I'm missing anything:
1. My impression is that the SuSE distribution doesn't probe for hardware as
much as RedHat does, specifically, for Ethernet and graphics cards. Am I
right?
2. The system configuration tools in Yast seem primitive and incomplete, again
compared to RedHat. Have I missed some tool, or do I get a copy of Linuxconf,
and
start configuring?
Also, someone at the Installfest asked what SuSE stands for - here goes:
"Gesellschaft f)Bür Software- und Systementwicklung mbH", which can be roughly
translated as "Company for Software- and System-Development" On October 21st,
1998, the official name has been changed from "S.u.S.E." to "SuSE" (without the
dots), mainly because people were often misspelling the old name and it was a
very uncomfortable to type. However, you may still use the old name, even
though it is expected to vanish."
