SCSI Tape drives on Linux

>Do any of you have experience in using SCSI tape drives on Linux?

 From what I remember, the system simply "saw" the drive and things 
like tar just -worked- with it.  This is a DDS tape drive connected 
to a Mac running LinuxPPC, IIRC.
