identd processes

David was referrring to the identd daemon responds to an ident request and 
returns some information to the requestor. This is a feature used by some 
IRC servers. You should be able to turn off the identd daemon by commening 
out the appropriate line in /etc/inetd.conf. Then you should restart your 
inetd. In Red Hat, as root, "/etc/rc.d/init.d/inetd restart".  SuSE users 
will find the init.d directory in /sbin.
