That's why the IE User-Agent includes Mozilla, in fact. A long
time ago in a galaxy far, far away, there was Mozilla, which begat
Netscape. Much time passed, then one day Microsoft noticed there was
this thing called the "Web", and, feeling left out, created its
own browser. Meanwhile, people who had already been playing
the game for a long time checked the User-Agent for Mozilla in
order to include Mozilla-specific features. So, in their typically
innovative style, Microsoft copied the User-Agent from Mozilla into
their own browser in order to fool sites into thinking their
browser was Netscape. And the rest is history...
