I might decide to take the route you have taken.
What kind of sound cards I should get or avoid?
Are still ISA cards preferable to PCI cards?

I have an Acer motherboard with an on board sound chip. I have never been able to get it working
on either Windows ME or Linux. I gave up and bought a sound board, and the sound came up
immediately.
